People In Action And At Work
The New World Dictionary defines “People” as ……“all the persons of a racial, national, religious, or linguistic group; nation, race, etc.” We as individuals share life experiences and, to a lesser or greater extent, we are responsible for the well-being of each other. Portrait Photography provides us with a way we can showcase the individual. It may be either candid or posed. I like candid shots the best because the individual doesn’t know that the photo is being taken, and therefore they don’t have their “camera face” on. Portrait photography is almost always a study of contrasts. The innocence of young children contrasted by the tired, sad eyes of an older individual who has seen too much of the world’s trials and tribulations. Don’t forget color contrasts between black, white, brown, or yellow. How about ethnic characteristics? Or, the environmental influences that show contrasts? Can you guess where someone might live or what their personalities might be like by looking at these photos? We have another avenue available to us to showcase “People”. This showcase involves people in activities or work or in interacting with other people. I hope that these photographs show the qualities that make up Portrait Photography as well as the “street scenes” that make up our own “life experiences.
